How old was Katniss when she gave birth to her daughter?

I know that canon is somewhere around 30-32 but my soul wants it to be 35. Probably because I personally consider 35 to be the best age to get pregnant by. I also like the idea of K&P having elementary-aged kids while they're in their 40s. 40 is such a hot age, its also such a good age to be parents IMO. 40 is just great.

How many years apart are they in age?

I picture them as being 4 years apart at the maximum. I think that makes sense for the epilogue ages we get hinted at. Toddler is 1-3 so the boy is somewhere in that range while the girl is between 4-7. I think that makes sense.

Your headcanon for their name?

I'm a strong believer in Willow and Rye. Those names just sound so Twelve to me. There's also something 'traditional' about those names, in that they're callbacks to Katniss and Peeta's own families (that is assuming the baker names all the kids after bread/bread-related/adjacent items). It's a way of honoring the dead, which I think is extremely important to them.

Who gets the singing and art skill from their parent?

I'm the controversial everlarker. I don't love stories where one kid is super Peeta-like and the other is super Katniss-like. In my experience kids aren't like that, they don't typically take after their parents' talents/hobbies/skills. I think each kid might have a special bond with either parent surrounding one of these skills but I think it's unrealistic to expect one of them to be super artsy and the other to be super outdoorsy. I just don't see it. I also think Katniss and Peeta would love it if their kids pursued other interests that are in no way connected to their own just because that is something they never got the chance to explore at all. I might be biased by my own family (my family has lived through war and military occupation), but because of that context I see Katniss and Peeta being those parents who go all out for every single interest their kids have. Oh, this summer little Rye is into swimming? It's swim world now baby. Little Willow wants to do soccer? The whole family has jerseys now. I don't think there's anything wrong or bad about the kids doing their parents' hobbies or anything like that - I just think it's unlikely they would inherit so much from their parents. I think both kids have wonderful memories of baking and painting with Dad as well as hunting, camping, and singing with Mom. I don't think either of them is necessarily amazing at those skills nor do I think Katniss and Peeta push them in that direction because one way or another all those skills were cultivated from a need to survive. Peeta bakes for work but also paints for therapy. Katniss hunted to survive and also sang for the emotional value she got out of it. These hobbies/skills have their baggage to them. I think that's something to keep in mind. Hell, my grandpa is a hunter, grew up a hunter, and used to hunt during the war so my family could eat something other than rations. None of us know how to hunt. It's something he decided he didn't want to trouble us with. There's baggage there.

I am the worst for fic recommendations because I never remember the titles of anything. Rn I can recommend my friend @vasilissadragomir 's fic Us Among The Living (it is very good and she puts so much love and care into it!!) and my own growing together fic which is (I swear) going to be updated soon. Other than that I'd have to go on a hunting spree myself to figure out the names of stuff lol.

Kind of bedridden currently so I'll try to answer. Also ty <3 but yeah I think the main issue I had is that they tried to make it some artsy indie movie style thing and the pace ended up being super slow paced and chill, which is very much the opposite of what makes CSM manga so engaging. Like, not only is the fast pace really efficient and doesn't stop for no reason (making the slow, relaxed moments feel a lot more stressful) but it does a lot of the legwork of making CSM both a very exciting shounen while putting you in Denji's shoes, thrown around from one situation to the next with little to no breathing room in between.

The overproduction and crazy budget played way against it, the thing is they didn't really need 13 endings or whatever, they just had money to throw things against the wall, hoping one would stick. The fighting scenes didn't necessarily have bad choreography and were pretty well animated I think, but again I feel none of it really fit what the manga was doing (which this one is a little more subjective bc i don't know much about fights in media and it's like the one thing I'll pay little attention to despite how many shounen I've consumed in my life). One example that comes to mind is when Denji is fighting the eternity devil, they play it very seriously and all and not really indulge in how like. Silly the situation is. Or how cool and fun it is to see a guy made of chainsaws cut a guy up until he kills himself.

I've already voiced my issues with himeno in the anime but I think I should clarify that, while in the manga it's not very overt (which is very funny in the In Your Face manga that is constantly in your face about everything) the manga is like. Aware himeno is a bad person and characterizes her as such (with both her faking relief she didn't fuck Denji and getting aki back to the devil hunters to avenge her/generally dragging him back into his revenge spiral because she wanted someone to cry for her), the anime genuinely is Really into her like Really into her. It's upsetting how much the people working on the anime gave her so much focus, specially trying to make something sexy out of the scene where she tries to fuck denji while drunk and extending what is like one or two chapters in the manga into almost the entire episode.

Overall I think the problem is they went for a very different tone that the manga did without really understanding what made the manga so popular and it inevitably flopped. Did you know chainsaw man has jokes. Well the anime people definitely didn't

“I like to keep my hand practically glued to Quentin’s when we’re out. If it’s not that, my arm’s around his waist. So he’s always reminded I’m there, and he’s always on at least a piece of my mind, no matter what we’re up to. But if I feel like he needs an extra little reminder, I’ll squeeze his hand or give him a kiss or pet his head until he rests it on my shoulder. If we can’t be physically touching, I’ll look at him until he looks back, and I’ll blow him a kiss when he does.”

“I love holding Quentin’s hand, too. I keep him close to me. And I like to nuzzle my head into his neck. If I have something to say, I’ll whisper right into his ear, and I’ll make sure to tell him super nice things.”

🧸: What does your bed look like? Is it just you and (S/I)? Are there stuffed animals? How many blankets and pillows do you have? Do you prefer the bed to be hot or cold?

“Well, Quentin loves plushies. So about half of our bed is taken up by them. Luckily we have a king, so we both still (barely) fit. He needs three pillows, and about 10 blankets. I only use like two pillows, but we share the blankets. It helps, since he keeps the room freezing cold to stay cool under the blankets. I like to keep warm, and he likes to be cold, but he doesn’t mind if he heats up while we’re cuddling.”

“My bed has a bunch of stuffed animals, and so does his! When he comes and visits me, he always pets mine. I have a few thick blankets and a couple of pillows, but he has a TON of blankets and three pillows! His bed is so super cozy when I stay over and sleep in it.”

👾: What are your favorite things to do with (S/I)? Who’s better at them?

“Training! Battling! I’ve put a lot of time into it, and I’d like to say I’m better, even if there’s a possibility that it’s not QUITE true. I also enjoy the time that we spend at home. He’s definitely better at sleeping. I don’t wake up super early or anything, but Quentin probably spends more time asleep than awake. He’s a super heavy sleeper, too, and he needs his rest, so I don’t even try to wake him anymore. But it’s basically together, since I’ll sit in the room and do something quietly while I watch him. His chest rises and falls so rhythmically under all of the blankets.”

“When there’s a duos contest, he likes to join me. Otherwise, we compete separately. I have a hard time ranking us, since I’m maybe a little biased due to liking him a lot AHAHA. He looks stunning up on that stage, and he always chooses moves that compliment his Pokémon perfectly.

“We like to go shopping together, but that’s not exactly a competitive activity. I probably enjoy it more, though. I think that he mostly just joins because I like it and he likes me.”

“He sometimes puts himself down when it comes to art, and I pout at him about it. He’s super talented, and I treasure everything he’s ever made me. When he makes me cool digital art, I pull it up on my phone to show anyone who’ll look. It’s my phone background. (My Lock Screen is a cute picture of me giving him a kiss while we share a scarf on a cold fall day. His cheeks are so rosy because of the cold and the closeness between us.) He’s also an amazing author! Sometimes he just writes about memories with me. Like what he thought and how he felt in little moments. My heart practically melts. He’s literally the cutest person ever!

“I never really thought of myself as an artistic person before Quentin. I kinda put myself in a box, but he’s had me try a bunch of things with him, and I’ve grown attached to some. My favorite is probably making pottery. I’m really good at it, too! I’ve given Quentin a nice vase that I hand-built and glazed myself, and he keeps flowers that I give him in it.”

“Does baking count? I love making poffins! I even make them for his Pokémon, too. And not to brag, but I totally perfected a recipe for ones that his Haxorus adores. where do i start? sam would one, love love love your personality! your optimism, free spirited, and silly personality is what drew him to you in the first place. it was like a breath of fresh air after stewing in dean's pessimism and the dread that hung over the two of them while hunting/ being hunters for so long. he admires the fact that you love to learn new languages and even would try to learn the one you're currently learning atm. this totally didn't happened but before the two of you started to date and found out that you loved to pick up new languages, sam tried learning one of the languages you already knew to try and impress/surprise you with. the fact that you can dance and draw makes sam fall for you even more, loving the fact that you have such a creative spirit and it shows in the doodles you give him as you absentmindedly draw on napkins from a dinner or even have the opportunities to draw on his hand or arm. it also shows with how graceful and agile you are as you hunt.

sam would be so intrigued that you're picking up witchcraft! though he would be hesitant at first but eventually open up to the fact that you are. he would listen intently to your ramblings about what you had learned as you researched about the craft. sam would smile at your fascination with the moon and how much you love fall, being to see your face brighten when you see the leaves change and seeing you bundled up in your favorite brown jacket (that looks eerily similar to one in his closet) as you guys walk together hand in hand down the bustling streets of whatever town you guys are staying in for the time being.

jo would adore your silly and goofy nature! at first she'd thought that your attitude didn't match hunters at all but as you rolled through the roadhouse every so often, she found it refreshing. it was better than the gruff and brash personalities that floated in and out of the bar that she was used to and found that when you come in, a smile stretched on her face as you greeted her eagerly. from then the two of you attached to one another like glue. she can always tell when you’re at the roadhouse because of the brown jacket you always wear when your favorite season rolls around. jo loves when you get slightly tipsy enough to where you start to dance with her in the empty bar after closing to the old jukebox in the corner or when you accidentally slip into one of the languages you’re learning or fluent in. the two of you as best friends would probs make the world collapse if you spent everyday together.

okay i don't think you'd have any enemies in spn, but you and dean would def have a frenemy/bickering relationship with one another. at first, dean would find your optimism a little grating and just confusing because why would someone so optimistic be a hunter? he likes to pretend he's a serious hunter but we all know deep down he is a silly goofy guy and seeing that reflected in your personality makes him envious that he doesn't express it is often as he wants to. so in turn he either shuns you or makes some off-handed remarks about it. but in turn you would dish it right back at him, throwing him off but then you guys would devolve into a little bickering battle, only ending when sam has to interject like a referee and almost separate you guys (sam sends you guys to opposite sides of the motel to cool down). but after a bad hunt, you sit with dean in silence and things shifted between of you. the bickering wasn't out of malice but dean has to keep up appearances and can't show that he tolerates you (even though by the time the bickering is over, there's a small smile on his face). he'll never admit this out loud but he finds it cool that you know a lot of languages and that you are creative spirit (you gave him sketch of the impala and he still has it to this day even though he said he was going to throw it out).

when it comes to ships, most of them i like but there is one where it doesn't make sense in my mind lol which is leo and calypso? its not that i don't think leo could bag calypso, he literally did lol, but like we've seen leo's perspective in the books and mans would not benefit from a relationship. another than that i like any of the other ships that are canon or fanon. i'm not a huge shipper myself but i obvs love percabeth, solangelo, frazel, and jason x brick LOL.

My top 6 movies discovered in 2023

I watched 52 new-to-me movies in 2023. Not nearly enough , as I could only find 6 movies that stood out sufficiently to be worthy of a personal top, in what was otherwise a pretty meh year — yes I'm a picky watcher — and yeah The Boy and The Heron didn't make the top, you can read the long rambling I wrote about it if you want to know why; I haven't watched Barbie, Oppenheimer or the Super Mario Bros. Movie, and haven't watched any Marvel-related movie since 2015.

6: Nimona (2023)

I didn't really expect to like the animated adaptation of N. D. Stevenson's comic, and I went in reluctantly, only because a lot of people who seemed trustworthy recommended it. Despite having some of the flaws I've come to expect in modern 3D animation, this was a very good surprise. You can read my detailed review here.

5: Suzume (2022)

The plot of Suzume stays very much within the bounds of the "modern artsy anime film", with a rather predictable 3+1 acts structure and an exploration of themes and human interactions which has some subtlety and nuance but overall stays very safe and on-the-surface. Nothing offensive, but nothing truly groundbreaking either.

But.

Suzume had, by far, the best animation of any movie I've seen this year. This movie is an absoluteely beautiful, every-frame-a-painting kind of deal. If I was to rank every animated I've ever seen solely by the quality of their animation, Suzume would easily be in the top 10.

4: Cape Fear (1962)

American cinema achieved maturity during the New Hollywood era that started in the late 1960s, marking a shift toward more naturalistic and more adult filmmaking and themes. But there were a few notable precursors before that.

The most famous of those is of course Psycho (altho tellingly, it was from a British director). But Cape Fear followed close behind, and is another example of an early 60s movie which you don't expect to be this dark and this raw, starring an absolutely get-under-your-skin-terrifying Robert Mitchum — if you thought he was creepy in The Night of the Hunter, you haven't seen nothing yet…

3: The Outwaters (2022)

This was the biggest surprise of the year, watched the same day it was recommended to me, having heard absolutely nothing about it before that (I didn't even know this movie existed). I got treated to a no-budget yet beautifully-shot found-footage horror movie — in fact the best found-footage movie I have ever seen, with a lot of attention put toward making the gimmick plausible, making the characters realistic and likeable, making this look like the kind of actual footage you'd find on a personal camera — while also having amazingly beautiful cinematography — all while slowly building up the tension.

Because that's just the first half.

Oh yeah, it's one of these horror movies in which you think you know where the story is going, and then second half just explodes in your face and becomes completely, utterly batshit insane. This is on par with Men (2022) for how weird and fucked up the climax is. Don't expect any kind of explanation or closure here, the second half of this movie turns into one of the most fucked up and bizzare horror movies you'll ever see.

2: Godzilla Minus One (2023)

Yeah so this one was a surprise late-year hit for everyone, not just me. First live-action Japanese Godzilla film in 7 years, with rather tempered expectations — we all knew that Shin Godzilla was an odd one out, that the average Japanese Godzilla movie is not like that, that we shouldn't expect this kind of quality on a regular basis.

Well we played ourselves.

This was incredibly well made as a blockbuster — Japanese cinema has completely caught up on American cinema, for a fraction of the budgets — one of the best Godzilla movies ever made from an action and visuals point of view, and a reminder that Godzilla, as a character, can also be scary, a terrifying incarnation of destruction and disaster.

But somehow this also managed to be a powerful and well filmed drama — no lazy endless shot/reverse shot dialogues here, a lot effort is put into framing choices, blocking… — a movie that actually touches on difficult questions and goes against the message of many other war or action blockbusters.

When so many stories glorify the idea of sacrifying your life for a greater cause, here's one movie that says "hey maybe expecting people to sacrifice their life for your cause is actually pretty fucked up, and maybe it's actually better to choose to live for the sake of your loved ones than to die for the sake of your own pride". Yeah a Japanese movie is saying that, a Godzilla movie is saying that.

1: Skinamarink (2022)

So, speaking of low-budget independent horror, back in 2022 I had foolishly overlooked Skinamarink. I had vaguely heard that it was good, but no particular detail was mentioned that would have picked my interest, and the poster looked fairly generic, so I skipped it, even tho I should have been more intrigued — 2022 was already shaping up to be a really good year for horror films…

Skinamarink was a tough proposition from the get go, in the "experimental" kind of tough: an entire film made in the analog horror genre — usually short videos made to ressemble old media from the 80s and 90s, advertisements, warning messages, weather channels, documentaries and informercials, with a disturbing twist; a format usually made of short segments. Trying to tell a film-length story in that fashion is an entirely different exercise, but that's fine, I've sat thru Begotten (1989), I can do this.

Right away, this is not framed like a movie: it's more as if someone had negligently left an old camera on the floor — but this is not even found-footage, there is no camera in-story, we just happen to be seeing this world thru stolen, furtive points of view. The image is grainy, the sound is bad quality (subtitles are provided), the frames are often askew, you never even see the actors' faces. We get no narration, no exposition, just a succession of disjointed scenes that slowly form a story.

This shouldn't work. And for many people, this will not work. Most will turn this off not even 5 minutes in. But if you're among the exceptions, then howdy does it work. The format is not a gimmick at all — it's completely in service of the story. The grainy image, the low quality sound prey on your pattern recognition, never quite certain if something is there or not; the framing by a "forgotten" camera contributes to make the atmosphere hyper-real in its intimacy, yet alienating and uncanny.

The director of Skinamarink deals with one very specific topic: nightmares. Not the idea of nightmares, not the heightened nightmares of fiction, but the literal nightmares that real people have; he started by making short videos representing common nightmares that people would tell him about. When it came time to make a full-length feature film, he kept the same approach. Skinamarink doesn't really use any of the classic themes or structures of horror movies; it largely ignores that folklore and instead focuses on deep childhood fears, the kind of stuff your mind used to conjure up long ago and that you have forgotten but not erased from your brain.

If you manage to enter into this very peculiar format, this very unusual and seemingly disjointed way to tell a story, and if you identify with the kind of fear material the movie is drawing on, this is a truly scary experience. Not really in a jump scare or suspense way, more like a deeply haunting and unsettling atmosphere, a strong ambient uncanniness where things are almost normal but just broken enough to give you a constant feeling of unpleasantness, of wanting to run the hell out of here while being trapped, a sense of horrible lurking threat while having nothing concrete to fight against or protect yourself from.

Of course, this isn't exactly a fun experience. This is very, very intense, I'm talking Antichrist-levels of playing with your nerves, and the story, as simple as it is, is tragically harrowing and cruel — you're essentially watching two young children getting psychologically (and eventually physically) tortured by a sadistic, unseen entity for a hundred minutes.

It's hard to recommend, and yet recommendations is how this movie ended up grossing 2 millions on a 15k budget — promotion included ! Most people actually didn't like the movie, but those who liked it liked it so much they can't shut up about it (case in point!) It's one of those horror movies that completely break the boundaries of the genre and do something truly new and unique. It's what horror should be for: imagination gone wild, format-breaking fantasy, and realism thrown out of the window.

What I'm watching right now:

Buddy Daddies: I know some people want to write this off as a Spy x Family clone, but that's a disservice and very judgemental of them. While there are some core elements and themes present, the execution of the story is vastly different than Spy x Family. Also, Miri is based on the animators' experiences with their children, so if she comes across as annoying... she's literally a four/five year old CHILD. Children... are annoying and no child is blessed with Anya's telepathy (which helps her sometimes act more mature and conscious of people around her). So, I will hear NO Miri slander.

Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill: Okay, so imagine this classic isekai set up: Heroes are summoned from another world to help defeat evil. Only one person summoned is a completely average guy and was summoned accidentally. His power is also super useless in battle: he can see character stats, he has unlimited storage, and he can buy anything from an online grocery store. He then takes one (1) look at the royals running the country and goes "Yeah, they're shady as hell... I'm ditching this country ASAP". So he does and ends up traveling and using his cooking skills to gain allies and friends along the way. Oh, and this anime is animated by MAPPA.

HIGH CARD: Look, the first episode has a Vegas casino aesthetic and that's more than enough to get me. The main story is about these magical cards that the royal family has. They're stolen and scattered leaving ordinary people finding them and gaining the powers of the cards. We follow a "car dealership" who are tasked with getting all the cards back for the royal family, but the cards have also fallen into organized crime's hands. What I like about this anime is how the cards have unique powers such as: guy who can turn anything he touches into marbles (anything...), girl with sword that awakens bloodlust of the user when drawn, and "We have Fitzgerald BSD power at home".

Revenger: Follows a group of people who take on "revenge killings" for those who "bite into a gold coin". The cast is super fun and the way the main cast kills their targets is unique. There is also some political intrigue in the background. I do warn people though, there is some Catholic/Christian imagery present, but it's within a fictional lens, so take that as you will.

Sugar Apple Fairy Tale: Look, this is the kind of shoujo anime teenager me ate up. It's set in a fictional world where these magical apples exist. Processing them gives a special kind of sugar that artisans create beautiful, delicate sugar sculptures. We follow a girl named Anne who wants to become an artisan, recognized by the King. Also, fairies exist, but they are subject to racism and slavery. Anne isn't prejudiced towards fairies which leads to Challe a very tall, dark, handsome fairy accompanying her. Cue them obviously falling in love. It's a very saccharine anime and the beautiful water colour backgrounds make this truly feel like a fairy tale.

The Fire Hunter: Set in an alternate Meiji like era Japan where people started to burn instantly, fire is now unable to be used and instead people use blood from monsters called Flame Demons that now roam the land. When Toko, our main girl accidentally gets a Fire Hunter killed trying to protect her, it's now her sworn duty to return his dog to the capital. On the other side is a boy named Koshi who is researching and will no doubt uncover something that was supposed to be secret...

While I think the animation style can feel a little under-budget, I think this anime is supposed to be more artsy, so if you're expecting very smooth animation this one isn't for you. But if you liked the vibe of Nausica and Princess Mononoke then I think you'd like this one too.

Bungou Stray Dogs S4: BSD IS BACK, BABEY!!! In case you haven't watched this anime, it follows a boy named Atsushi Nakajima, who has the ability to turn into a weretiger. Turns out there are other people with special abilities who secretly are a part of the government and even the dangerous Port Mafia. Atsushi ends up being saved from starvation (he's an orphan) by Dazai Osamu who works with the Armed Detective Agency, people who help maintain balance in Yokohama by taking on cases.

Every single character is based on an actual Literary Author, from Japanese to American to British to Russian. So, not only can you enjoy anime, you can now enjoy a literary classic in a whole new way.

To Your Eternity S2: I cannot tell you guys how underrated this anime is. Picture this: an orb that's dropped to Earth by an omniscient being. The orb changes into whatever makes an impact and interacts with it. For decades it's a rock until one snowy day a wolf dies near it. Thus, the orb, now a wolf, travels and meets a nameless boy. From there the orb gains human sentience and the anime starts to explore the questions: "What does it mean to be human?" "What is the effect of immortality on a being slowly gaining humanity?"

If you want a good cry because the creator of this also wrote A Silent Voice, then this anime is for you. Also, if you're looking for a strong character driven anime. There is action, but if you are only looking for action this anime is not for you. However, this anime is absolutely amazing and the commentary on immortality is top tier.

BNHA S6: Another series I've read ahead, I am enjoying all the animation to this juggernaut of a Shonen series. Also, the ending song SKETCH by Kiro Akiyama? Easily my favourite EDs for the series.

Attack on Titan (Final Chapters): Technically the next part isn't out for a while, but I'm adding it to this list because it's ongoing. Do I need to even describe Attack on Titan? It's breathtaking and beautiful while showing the most horrific acts. The opening Under the Tree by SiM lives rent free in my brain, especially since their prior opening The Rumbling was in Eren's POV and now this one is Mikasa's POV.

Most excited to start watching:

-Jujutsu Kaisen S2: I AM EXCITED BUT ALSO NERVOUS AS HECK FOR THIS NEXT PART. I've read ahead and OH BOY I don't know if I'll emotionally survive.

-Dr. Stone S3 is going to begin in April with the Treasure Island arc. I read the entire manga and I'm SO EXCITED to see the next part of the story animated.

-Kimetsu no Yaiba is also returning with The Sword Village arc. While I know the last part of the Entertainment Arc and the first bit of the Sword Village arc are in theatres, it's technically not back in episode form. Like Dr. Stone I read the entire manga and cannot wait to see the next part.

-Spy x Family season two has been announced. While I know we don't have a date of release yet, I am very excited. I am reading the manga like the other entries here.

-Bleach TYBW Part 2: A very nostalgic series for me, I've been a Bleach fan since the original anime, episode one came out. I never thought I'd see the final arc animated, but it's breathtaking and like every other entry on this list, is a series I've read the manga for. Very excited for the continuation!!!

-Trigun: We end this anime with another older series on my list. Yeah, I grew up in the 90s era anime. No, I didn't watch Trigun. I always meant to, but I sort of forgot? Uh, anyways with Trigun Stampede out I think it's time I watched a classic before seeing the new version.

(Can I add the honourable mention of Fire Force? Because when that series returns I'm going to Scream. I am SO EXCITED for this one because there is a MOMENT in the series that when it's animated I fully expect the internet who has not read the manga to collectively lose their minds.)

a/n: i’m obsessed with knitting/crocheting bc i’m actually a very very ancient old elderly decrepit person trapped in the body of a sexy young lady. and i especially love knitting things for other ppl bc it makes me feel like a little christmas elf. so this is what i would make for each of the bad batch

Hunter: headband

yes this is an obvious one but i don’t care

hunter wears the same rotting headband every single day someone needs to provide him with extras so he can at least rotate them

headbands are really easy to knit so i could provide him with an endless supply of clean ones

ALSO it would be so cute to make the actual headband one of the bad batch colors (black, red, even white) and then crochet little appliqués to sew onto them

like the skull, 99, those would so cute on there like basically how the skull is on his already but more 3D

yarn is also most likely more breathable than whatever he’s currently got strapped on there so comfort wise it would be better too

Crosshair: beanie

crosshair is such a 2015 beanie dude

like i don’t mean that in any sort of way bc he’s a handsome young man BUT he’s very “i’m the misunderstood artsy loner guy who wears leather jackets and beanies and smokes cigarettes and reads classic literature”

and i love that energy for him so he deserves a beanie to compliment it

also i think crosshair is a very chronically cold person but is too proud to ever admit he’s cold so he won’t put on a jacket or use a blanket BUT he’ll wear his beanie bc he can pass it off as a fashion choice

Tech: tote bag

tech has so many god damn things

so many trinkets and gadgets and tools

but anyway he needs somewhere to put all of those things! and if that storage location is also mobile? even better!

I keep a lot of my things in tote bags (literally i keep my knitting stuff in a tote bag) bc it’s easier and then they’re ready to go if i need to transport them

i just think he would get a lot of use out of something like that, plus this is more of a time consuming project and he would have the patience to wait since it’s not a pressing need

i’m making a tote bag for myself right now and i’m knitting a design into it (eggplant emoji on one side, peach emoji on the other side) and i would def do a design on tech’s to make it more exciting and I think he would really appreciate the craftsmanship of it all

Wrecker: bucket hat

crosshair might be a beanie dude. but wrecker is 1000% a bucket hat dude

like wrecker is just such a chad in the best possible way (in the beloved himbo way) and i think his natural state is at like a tailgate (or some kind of outside day drinking event), hawaiian shirt unbuttoned, bucket hat on, sipping a bud light and playing cornhole

bucket hats are more of a crochet thing but they’re pretty easy and quick to make and they’re super cute with little appliqués sewn on like with hunters headband

he would love having a few different ones with different vibes like obvi some bad batch themed ones but other ones too

specifically the one i’m picturing in my head is like a pretty light blue with little white cloud appliqués sewn in all over so it looks like a beautiful blue sky

Echo: blanket

now this is a time consuming project. you gotta really love someone to devote this commitment to them

as much as i love all these lovely individuals, echo is the only one who deserves having these labors performed for his comfort

echo has had almost only the worst of times ever. now he’s like half robot and doesn’t even get to have a robot hand OR his own bed he sleeps in a fucking hammock

he deserves the world, the least i could do is make him a big cozy knit blanket

echo is also the only one who’s patient enough to wait for a nice blanket to be made. everyone else would get antsy too soon

i would use that big soft yarn they sell for baby blankets like i would just buy a fuck ton of it and it would be so comfy

Omega: sweater

omega is the only one i would make a sweater for

similarly to echo i think she’s the only one who deserves such a laborious task, but also she’s much much smaller than the rest so it would be way easier

not to be fully mrs weasley but i would def knit her initial into the sweater

That one bone-shedding lietner probably made Gerry a cryptid in the vulture culture community right?? just picture it:

He starts taking artsy pictures of the bones it drops, editing them on his phone, and posting them online.

No context, No text, the blog header is something like ‘If you can read Fuck You’ and it’s the only words on the blog aside from every post being ominously and unhelpfully tagged #bones

He actually gets a decent following because his photos are nice, he posts pretty consistently, and no one understands how he has so many fucking bones!!

There are blogs dedicated to reblogging all his posts and trying to identify what fucking animal the bones came from, and like assemble skeletons, or identify what region this person could possibly be from based on the bones he has but it’s impossible b/c they’re magic fear bones.

He SOMEHOW has bones from a deep sea fish that’s supposedly next to impossible to find and only a few specimens exist and they’re the subject of endless debate.

Gerry has no idea just how much of an incredibly frustrating mystery he is bc he doesn’t actually follow anyone or interact at all, he immediately deletes any asks or messages he gets, he’s only there to Post Bones.

He’s known in the community as The Bone Hoarder b/c he has by far the most extensive collection of bones ever seen.

People are pretty sure he’s based in London due to some internet super sleuthing and the occasional view out his window or Weird Cobblestone Bone Shot.

Melanie discovers this #Mystery b/c she’s internet savvy and sometimes you find very specific and fascinating rabbit holes when you’re internet savvy and also a ghost hunter.

She sees one picture from a spot she KNOWS is condemned, super hard to get into, illegal as fuck to be in, and haunted as all shit.

She points this out and everyone who knows about The Bone Hoarder goes buck-fucking-wild.

Jared is jealous as all get out, but also his biggest fan.

Anime I Watched This Fall

My first semester of college is officially over and the December holidays are upon us! I hoped to make one of these posts sooner, but I have been incredibly busy with schoolwork. Now that things have slowed down, let’s take sometime to reflect on things I’ve watched. 

These anime are listed in chronological order and encompass everything I’ve watched from 9/1/2020 - 12/15/2020

Like always, they will be rated on a 1-10 scale; 1 meaning complete garbage, 10 meaning masterpiece. I will offer my thoughts on what I did/didn’t like about each show!

1. The God of High School - 6/10 

Despite the stellar animation from MAPPA and my high expectations, I was really disappointed by how this series was treated. Most of the story’s crucial elements were handled poorly. I finished this series feeling more confused about the plot than when I first began. The power system is really cool, but poorly explained. More time should have been spent on exposition and world building for this series, instead the fights were given the most screen time. 

2.  Doukyuusei - 7/10 

I really liked the style of Doukyuusei. Granted, this was another movie I chose to watch primarily because of the hype surrounding it. The dynamic between Kusakabe and Sajou is an interesting one, and I also enjoy how the movies different acts were separated by the seasons. However, there's nothing that really sets Doukyuusei apart from other romance movies, its a little generic. Still, I enjoyed it nonetheless. 

3.  Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season - 8/10 

My opinions on Re:Zero’s second season are biased. This was, by far, the sequel I was most hyped for during the summer/fall anime season. I was so happy to see the story’s continuation and I’m looking forward to the season’s second part coming sometime in January. Re:Zero is one of my all time favorite series because of the way it handles it characters and power dynamics. I also really enjoy the show’s psychological aspects. If you haven’t already, give Re:Zero a try! 

4. Saint☆Oniisan (Movie + OVA) - 8/10

This was a wonderful comedy. I wasn’t sure how the subject of Jesus and Buddha living together would be tackled, but it was handled wonderfully. I was laughing for pretty much the entire movie. I love the art style and little references to both Buddhism and Christianity, plus the incorporation of Japanese culture. Saint Oniisan is a bright comedy, with two eccentric main characters. If you like a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and need a good laugh, I can’t recommend this more.

5. Clannad: After Story - 10/10 

Never, while watching anime, did I cry as much as I did while watching Clannad: After Story. I didn’t realize how much I related to Okazaki until I saw him grow up in After Story. I was left sobbing, especially after episode 18. I still, to this day, cannot listen to the Dango song without tearing up. The original Clannad is nothing special, but the continuation of its story its something heartfelt, emotional, and down-to-earth. I love Kyoto Animation with all my heart, and Clannad made me appreciate everything the studio has done just a little bit more. Thank you Clannad, for reminding me about the kind of person I strive to be. 

6. Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu - 5.5/10

The art in A Whisker Away was beautiful. The story itself, however, is nothing too enjoyable. I found it difficult to like our protagonist or her love interest. Nothing about this movie is inherently memorable. The emotional climax came far too early which made the second half of the film seem long and drawn out.  All in all, the movie has a wonderful concept, I just believe it could have been so much more emotional than it was. When I watch a move, I like to empathize with the characters. It’s difficult to do when the characters aren’t given the proper exposition to be empathized with. 

7.  Shikioriori - 6/10

This is less of a movie and more of a collection of short stories. Flavors of Youth is something you shouldn’t watch on an empty stomach, all of the food looks incredible. The same cannot beside for the rest of this feature. The stories themselves seems heavily clichéd. Much like A Whisker Away, the initial premise is intriguing, but the execution results in something that comes across as trying too hard and carries no emotional weight with the viewer. If you plan on watching, pay more attention to the artwork and animation than the actual plot. You won’t be missing anything. 

8. Vinland Saga - 7/10

Vinland Saga helped me get out of the rut that Clannad: After Story. Not only does this show have a great story, its action packed with lots of interesting fights. I especially enjoyed all the Nordic history embedded within the show. Its really unlike any of the other historical anime I’ve watched. I will say, it’s gory. But, compared to all the other things I watched this time around, I finished this series the quickest. Its good, its graphic, its fast paced! 

9.  Mononoke Hime - 7/10

It’s ironic considering how much anime I’ve watched that I have yet to watch all of the most classic Studio Ghibli films. Princess Mononoke is grittier than most other Ghibli films I’ve seen, but it’s message is positive and its characters are wonderful. I can’t really speak ill towards classics like these. I guess maybe my one complaint is that this movie could’ve been a faster pace. Other than that... I really enjoyed everything Princess Mononoke offered! I understand why it’s so popular.  

10. Howl no Ugoku Shiro - 8.5/10 

Can you believe it took me this long to finally watch Howl’s Moving Castle? Me neither!! This movie is so endearingly beautiful. I loved every second of it, from the characters to the soundtrack. So many iconic things come from just this one movie. I would like to take this time to thank my best friend for reminding me that Studio Ghibli films are wonderful! Thank you for watching this with me, I loved it! All in all, I regret not watching this sooner! 

11. Toradora! - 6.5/10 

Toradora took me a while to finish, just because I lost interest about halfway through. But, I powered through it, and ended up really enjoying the show! I’m not the biggest fan of the ending, but that’s just a personal preference. Somehow, this show also made me cry? I’m not entirely sure why because Toradora! is probably the thing farthest from sad. Apart from the show’s dull slice of life moments, it was super cute! A much needed light-hearted romance. 

12. New Initial D Movie: Legend 1 - 5/10 

Full disclosure, this is the only thing related to Initial D that I’ve ever watched. My band and I watched this expecting to hear some of that iconic Initial D music, itself all we got was a mildly confusing story about different types of cars. It was cliché and frankly a little boring. Although, I am still considering watching the original Initial D just so I can hear the music in the way it was original intended. I’ve got no other opinions on this movie. It’s best not to watch these movies without the context from the rest of the franchise.  

13.  Uchuu Patrol Luluco - 7.5/10

I didn’t really understand why people enjoy studio Trigger so much until I watched Space Patrol Luluco. I loved all the fun references to other studio Trigger works. I loved the humor, and I loved all the bright colors. The animation was extremely high energy, and the art style fits the show’s premise. Each episode was only 12 minutes long so it was a super quick binge. If you’re looking for something quick, light-hearted and comical, this is the perfect show to watch.

14. Orange - 7/10 

I owe a big thanks to a tumblr mutual for recommending this show to me! This holds the honor of making me cry by episode 3! I honestly did not expect the subject matter of this show to be as dark as it was. Usually when I see the genre ‘shoujo’ I do not associate it with a love story like that of Orange. The heavy subject matter made it a little too close to home for me, but I still really enjoyed this series. It reminds me off all the good times I had with my friends in high school, and of all the regrets I carry with myself to this day. 

15. 3-gatsu no Lion - 7.5/10 

March Comes in Like a Lion is another show that was a bit of a slow burn for me. Each episode left me feeling emotionally drained, so I had to take a lot of breaks while I was working on watching this series. Shaft, the studio behind this anime, holds a special place in my heart because I loved their work on the Monogatari Series. March Comes in Like a Lion is a little different. It’s driving force it is characters, and it was cathartic to watch our main character transform through the entire duration of the first season. I know the show’s second season is much better, so I’ll be starting that soon! 

16. Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei - 8/10 

I loved how artsy and smart The Tatami Galaxy is, but honestly I couldn’t watch too much at once cause it would hurt my head. I also couldn’t watch this show while I was tired because the speaking rate is much faster than typical anime. The Tatami Galaxy is so unique for its medium. I loved the different time loops and the crazy animation. The characters were fascinating. The dialogue, although very fast, it also fantastic. There’s an element of humor to this unique story telling, and I enjoyed ever minute of it! 

Currently Watching:

Hunter x Hunter - 6.5/10 (As of Episode 30)

I pride myself in having watched a lot of shounen anime, but I was reluctant to start Hunter x Hunter for years because I thought I would find it boring. I was oh so very wrong. Considering great shows like Naruto and Fairy Tail that fall under the same category, I expected Hunter x Hunter to be subpar in comparison. It gets a low score for two reasons. One, the power system was introduced a little too late and now I’m wondering if all the fights post episode 30 will involved nen in some way, shape, or form. Two, its still on hiatus. 

Two Cursed Additions For This List

Please to do not let these be representative of my anime taste. 

1.  Yarichin☆B*tch-bu - 4/10

I am a CLOWN for not knowing this was 18+. The only reason I watched this was to see why everyone was talking about the pink-haired boy with the glasses and tongue piecing. I know why now, and I regret it. This was a massive mistake on my part. But hey, at the least the art and ending song kinda slap? 

2. Euphoria (Dropped After 1 Episode) - 2/10

If you know what I’m talking about when I say Euphoria, I am so sorry. And no, I am not talking about the HBO series. Seriously, don’t google this. Don’t watch this. Don’t interact with anything related to this. You’re probably wondering, “Then why did you watch it?” I did not watch this willingly. You see, I have a very bad habit of starting anime and then taking months to finish them. I made an ultimatum with a friend, lost, and then was forced to watch this a punishment. Not a fun experience. I’m very glad there are no GIFs of this on tumblr...

Nishinoya Yuu

Nishinoya would think your artwork is the coolest thing he has ever seen,,,,

He will beg you to draw on his bags or notebooks, he wants you to customize all his stuff because he wants to show you off

Nishinoya would watch you whenever you’re working on something, but then get bored after like five minutes and start going through his phone

He likes being in your presence so even if you work on something for hours, he will lay right beside you with his head in your lap while he naps or plays games 

Nishinoya would probably ask you to teach him how to draw stuff like a lion or something,,, you would have art lessons with him. His art is a work in progress...

Please, he is such a big show-off that if you give him something he will proudly go around presenting it to everyone…. Tsukishima is usually the person he always brags to 

‘Did (Y/N) make that for you senpai’ ‘They did! How did you know?!’ ‘Well, I know you certainly can’t draw that good’

Cue Nishinoya tackling his favorite first-year and trying to steal his glasses. Yes, Tsukki is his fave first-year 

If you ever want to go out to the park or the mountains or the beach to take pictures for inspiration or even do something cute like drawing the sunset, Nishinoya would tag along. Please, he would make it his own little adventure

Nishinoya has his own love for volleyball so he can really appreciate the love you have for art, he finds it super intriguing and it makes him fall in love with you even more~ 

“Right here!” Nishinoya points to the handle of his bag and you stare confusedly at him.

“You want me to paint on the strap?” You ask and Nishinoya eagerly nods, you squint at it while thumbing the fabric. “I’m not sure if it will work on this material.”

Nishinoya sighs dramatically and you flick his forehead.

“I can draw you something else though, here,” You lean up and kiss the area you had previously hit before digging right into your sketchbook. Your pencil flies across the paper and Nishinoya watches with interested eyes.

That lasts for about thirty seconds.

“Is it done yet?” You glance over your shoulder to see Nishinoya hanging off your bed, a bored expression on his face.

“Yuu, it’s been like two minutes.” You laugh and go back to the sketch you’re working on.

“Is that a yes?” He asks hopefully.

“Mmm, it’s a no.” Nishinoya sighs at your words, he drags himself off the bed and brings the blanket with him. You jolt slightly when you feel his body press up against yours and you glance behind you to see him curled up against you. 

The sun continues to fall from the sky and you diligently work on the paper in front of you. Nishinoya wakes up from his nap with a quiet yawn, the sleepiness still inside of his body. His arms wrap around your waist and he rests his head on your shoulder.

“Are you done yet?” You answer his question with a brief head shake. “Let’s go to sleep do it later,” He moans and you can already feel him falling asleep against you once again. “I want cuddles.”

Tendou Satori

Tendou is that kid in school who always begged you to draw him when he found out you could draw 

LOL like this mf will get on his knees ‘pls draw me’ and when you finally ask him what you want to draw he’d be like ‘me fighting a dragon’

Tendou would be very supportive of your art, he would love to sit there and just watch you paint or draw or make sculptures, whatever you do he loves to watch 

He will sit there in your room and lay on your floor and just stare, watch every brushstroke you make, you’ll have to physically push him away for space

I feel like when he sees you draw he, himself, will want to draw something as well 

Tendou will practice making little stick figures or draw portraits of you 

You have to hype him up and put it in your phone case or hang it on your wall because it is too cute

Tendou will make you work with Ushijima to create his manga, he will have the two of you draw the entire thing

He’d love everything you create and will always cherish it like he will definitely have a little place just for all of your artwork

Tendou loves encouraging you in everything that you do,,, your hobbies will somehow also become his 

“And then when it gets recognized we will become super famous!” Tendou tells you with excited eyes, his hands tightly gripping your shoulders. “We will get to work together in the future, angel! I get to spend even more time with you!” You laugh softly at his eagerness for the future as you continue to sketch in the tiny boxes.

“That’s the plan, huh?” You ask and Tendou nods, he swings one of his long legs to sit on the bench beside you, moving to practically sit on top of you.

“This is going to get sued for copyright.” Shirabu comments, his eyes narrow towards Tendou, as he reads through the manga ideas that Tendou created.

“I simply took inspiration from other shows, Naruto did it with Hunter Hunter!” Your boyfriend defends and Shirabu simply shakes his head, continuing to thumb through the papers.

“(L/N), I will take the next page,” Ushijima tells you, already reaching for another piece of paper to draw on.

“Woah, you’ve finished already Ushijima? Can I see it?” Ushijima nods and shows you his paper, your eyes widen when you look at his drawings. “This is really good, Ushijima! You’re good at everything!” You compliment and Tendou pouts when he notices your attention is no longer on him. 

“I, too, am good at everything.” Your boyfriend tells you, moving his arm around your shoulders to bring you closer to him. 

“If you’re so good then why didn’t you draw it yourself?” Shirabu asks, his eyebrows raised behind his bangs. 

“I can’t be the writer and illustrator, Kenjirou!” Tendou defends and you put your hand over his own. 

“We believe you Tendou, you’re the most amazing person ever!” Tendou practically melts at your compliment and hides his face in your shoulder.

Ushijima glances up at you, nods his head, then goes back to work.

Ushijima Wakatoshi 

Let me first say. Ushijima is also kinda artsy,,,, he is the perfect man,,,, we all saw how he drew for Tendou’s manga! It brought Goshiki to tears!!! 

He can appreciate all the works that you create because he knows how much effort is put into each piece 

Ushijima used to draw a lot when he was a kid and was really interested in it so seeing you do your thing will probably pique his interest again

He might start drawing again, aimlessly, whenever he is bored and it’s all for you~

Ushijima loves when you show him whatever you create, even if you think it is bad, he will always find the beauty in it

He’d probably sit there while you describe what you drew and why, how you did it, stuff like that because he loves to hear you talk 

Whenever you two hang out in your respective dorms, Ushijima probably reads magazines while you work on your latest project

He’d probably try to sneak peeks at what you are creating just because he is curious but he doesn’t want to disturb you when you’re in the zone 

If you ever draw something for him, Ushijima’s heart would bust the fattest nut, he would be so happy. He would praise you for like ten minutes and then hang it up in his room

Ushijima loves how passionate you are about something that you like and in turn, he wants to support you with it!!! He’d probably buy you supplies as little gifts, even when you don’t ask for it

“Let’s paint the sunset!” You beg Ushijima, your hands cupping his own as you pout up at him. “Please, it’ll be so much fun!” 

Ushijima glances down at you and then to the art supplies collected in his room from your daily visits, he really can’t say no, can he?

“Okay.” He responds and you squeal happily before placing a kiss on his cheek and grabbing all the things that you’ll need. 

“Here, hold this.” You thrust your bag of supplies into his arms before grabbing a blanket. “Let’s go up to the roof.”

Ushijima follows you quietly, listening to you as you ramble about how excited you are. His heart soars at the happiness you emit at this moment. 

“Wow.” Ushijima comments when you open the door, he knew sunsets were pretty but damn, this is something else. 

“This is going to be so much fun!” You grab his hand and drag him to the center, placing the blanket down before hopping on it. Already you’re grabbing for the orange and yellow paints. “Don’t you think?” 

Ushijima nods and sits down beside you, unconsciously making it a point to rest your legs in his lap, he always has to be touching you.

The sun continues to change colors and you keep up with it to the best of your ability, your canvas no longer the original color. Ushijima’s, however, is still blank. He’s been unable to take his eyes off of you the entire time. Instead of painting the sunset, he finds something better to paint. 

When the sun eventually goes down and the two of you are now under the moon, you hide your canvas away from him.  

“Let me see yours first before I show you mine!” You bargain and sit up, looking over his shoulder at what he painted. “That’s not the sunset.” Your lips part when you notice what he painted was you. Ushijima glances at you while trying to calm his racing heart.

“I know, I decided to paint something even prettier.”

Jack Rats

Part One of my Clone Wars/Bad Batch-era OCs! Characters covered in this one: Vesa, Madds, Kez, and Zuli.

Vesaseh “Vesa” Rumrraahk

She’s one of my favorites! Vesa is the one who can pick up Crosshair and swing him around no problem. She’s not as strong as Wrecker, but she’s pretty buff!

holds her liquor really well

somewhere between 6′2 and 7 feet tall (maybe 9 feet but I haven’t decided yet). she’s actually pretty short by her species standards 

gets along with wrecker really well

comes from a pretty well-off family. she was very sheltered as a kid which means she’s now gullible and holds a lot of her parents’ more conservative views, but she’s opening up and slowly becoming a socialist based solely on her interactions with the war

causes problems/mischief on purpose. she is chaos incarnate

once convinced a group of clones that she couldn’t read but was still a certified medic

you know those tiktoks with the MCR song “Teenagers” sound? She is very much that sound. The whole team is.

Maddulis “Madds” Thellil

This character is actually largely based on a real life friend of mine, especially in appearance. Some facts about Madds:

im gonna brag about her name because i put a lot of thought into it. No idea what world/language it comes from, but it comes from an ancient masc name “Addu” meaning gentle, and “lis” roughly meaning the one/that one/that person. So her name means “gentle one”

she once beat Crosshair in a sniping competition. It was purely on luck and a technicality, but she’ll never let him live it down

was planning on joining the army prior to the war (but got turned away)

married her best friend for tax benefits and financial aid reasons

can get along with anyone. she’s super nice and she’s a social butterfly

somehow earned enough of Hunter’s trust to braid his hair. She’s gotten a lot of practice with curly hair through Hunter!

learned to shoot from her dad and ex-boyfriends

she’s a good dancer too

Kezrayth Thellil

No but seriously, Kez is very much my indulgent self-insert character. He allows me to explore my trauma/fears/thoughts/emotions and also date Tech.

taught himself Mando’a, sign language, and a couple other languages when he was stuck in the hospital with nothing to do

undecided major before the war started. Then he joined the GAR

Autistic/ADHD! Hunter once called him a “half-baked Tech” but Kez argued that would also make him a half-baked Hunter, seeing as he’s also light/sound/smell sensitive

designated driver. Kez doesn’t drink (sober at least a year now!) but doesn’t mind being in a bar or around alcohol

somehow manages his way in the criminal underworld. but he’s still a total softie; he usually apologizes to droids when he has to shoot them

cannot shoot. Madds is a sharpshooter, but Kez has terrible eyesight and needs to be pretty close in order to get a good hit. He still prefers blasters over knives, though

he’s the one that proposed to Madds that they get married for financial aid. he also made their rings

Zuli Zarcana

Originally I wasn’t basing Zuli off of anyone, but now... yeah. she’s based slightly on another friend of mine, mostly in how laid-back and artsy she is:

possibly Pantoran? I haven’t decided I’m not sure what she is just yet but for now we’ll say she’s human she is officially human I think!

she’s an actual doctor. The only real medic on the team - and she’s usually stuck somewhere else tending to injured clones

she isn’t actually part of their unit, but she’s friends with them so she’s an honorary member

she’s an artist! she’s really good, too, but her parents were very strict and didn’t consider art to be “real work” so she went into the medical field instead

Other fun facts:

the term “Jack Rat” is one they coined themselves, similar to how the Bad Batch chose theirs. They got called rats as an insult, and mixed it with Jack of All Trades, since their work is so mixed and varied. Jack Rats!

their ship is a light cargo freighter. It’s livable, too. It’s called the Brick Szarlotka, or just Szarlotka, after a dessert from Madds and Kez’s home. (szarlotka is actually a kind of Polish apple pie, but we don’t have Poland in space)

neither Madds or Kez are actually fully trained to be medics. In fact, prior to the war, they probably wouldn’t be allowed to serve because of their mental illnesses, but desperate times call for desperate measures

they each know enough sign language to manage a non-verbal Kez. Kez knows the whole language, and Madds is the second best since she’s known him so long

they usually have at least one small stuffed animal/tooka doll with them. No one knows where they keep getting all their toys, but they’re always giving them to refugee children and will even use them to comfort clones. Wrecker’s favorite is a stuffed animal named Frinnigan who roars when you squeeze him

they’re all down for committing crimes. a lot of theft. (Vesa and Zuli are the most reluctant/nervous)

civvies are a love language. Everyone in the Batch has at least 2 outfits

HEY YOU!

If you’re a person like me and like playing Magic: the Gatherings sometimes you get burnt out on constant releases and inconsistent gameplay.

I’ve gathered a list o games here that might interest you depending on what in MTG you like!

When you play EDH do you like the wacky decks that come to the table? The weird strategies and watching your own plan come to fruition?

Villainous is a wonderful, flavorful romp where each player takes the reins of a Disney villain on their own thematic board and attempts to execute their plan. Each villain deck plays radically different from the other and there’s some 12 different villains as of now. Its a well balanced romp as games usually come to a head with each player on the cusp of completing their goal. I highly recommend picking up the expansion containing Yzma, its good stuff.

Do you like deckbuilding? Amassing the right cards for a well oiled machine?

Dominion is the tabletop for you! Starting with a deck of 10 cards can you work your way through the available lot of cards to make a fine-tuned machine? Dominon has countless expansions lending it to near infinite combinations of cards for deckbuilding puzzle after puzzle.

Or do you like drafting? Making picks to forward your goals?

Seven Wonders is what you’re looking for! Seven Wonders is a draft style game of 3 rounds where you draft different cards for gains in military, science, gold, and sometimes just bulk points. It has a touch of a learning curve as rules are represented by symbols and not text, but after a starting round its easy to get a grasp of. Plus, this can hold up to seven players!

Special recommendation to Seven Wonders: Duel for being there for you when you and your buddy want to draft but no one’s available.

Maybe you like reading the boardstate and making plays based on that?

Smash Up is some goofy fun. There are multiple factions here: robots, ninjas, dinosaurs with lasers, zombies, bear cavalry, and you take two decks and shuffle them together. That’s your deck! Do you combine zombie reanimation with robot’s ability to spit small minions out quickly? Or do you make time traveling super apes who bolster their power while rewinding plays? There’s a lot of field manipulation and play among the Bases that score points, its a joy.

But maybe you aren’t in EDH for the literal gameplay. No. You’re a person of culture. You’re here for the politics.

Have you ever wanted to bribe and lie your way around your friends and the law? Here it is! Sheriff of Nottingham is a game where each player bundles up to 5 cards in their “bag” and passes it to the sheriff for inspection. That’s when deals begin. You can bribe and/or talk your way out of sticky situations and make good with the sheriff. Or rip them off. This game has a simple set of rules that allows it to be rife with mind games.

But maybe you need more than politics. You need to dig a knife into your buddy’s back just as they’re about to succeed.

Prepare to die. I was skeptical of Bloodborne’s card game but its quickly become one of my favorites if not the favorite tabletop game of mine. Hunters fight beasts together eager to dig in damage for the most blood. Turns go with a horrible abomination being revealed. You have a hand of up to 7 cards and each player chooses one to play. They flip. The monster attacks, with dice that allow a potential lethal combo on all hunters with a stroke of bad luck. Then the hunters strike. Damage takes blood echoes and the most blood at the end wins. Cards sabotage and harm opponents, the expansion’s Church Cannon laying waste to careless hunters. I highly recommend giving this a look and getting this with the Hunter’s Nightmare expansion. The new weapons, consequences for death, and bosses add a lot to the game. And with multiple big bad final bosses to pick it has a lot of replay value.

Sometimes you don’t want to be violent. You don’t want to use the EDH side of your brain. You want to be a series of fluffy bunnies looking at dreamlike art arguing “that isn’t at all what “Locked” looks like!!”

Dixit is a very right-brained card game, in that you’ll be flexing creative muscles instead of abstract ones. The active player puts a card facedown and describes it. Each opponent puts a card down that matches the description. If all players guess correctly or incorrectly the active player is awarded zero points, the key is to trick just a few players into guessing your card but not all of them. And if you like this check out the equally artsy Mysterium.

I really like tabletop, and this is just a slice of games relevant to MTG. If any of these sound interesting to you absolutley check them out, I recommend everything on this list.

The bunker was dark and cold as you sat alone in the library, only the light from the kitchen that you'd left on and the lamp that was sitting on the desk shining as you sat in your usual seat behind a pile of books. A sketch pad stretched out in front of you, and the books have long since been forgotten. Your attention waivered to the drawing you had started yesterday while Dean was sitting across from you in the library, a glass of whiskey in his hand, and his feet kicked up on the table. 

Drawing Dean has become one of your favorite past times. It was some sort of an obsession, you realized that, but it helped you cope with the fact that drawing the detail of his face would be the closest you ever get to actually touching him.

You'd been living with the Winchesters as a researcher for over a year, and from the moment Dean pulled up in Baby to pick you up from your brother Garth's house you'd been in love with him. Garth said the boys needed help researching, and suggested you as the best he'd ever known, so Dean came all the way there to pick you up himself. 

It wasn't something you could control, it just was, you just were. There was nothing that could change it, no matter how much you wanted to.

Dean didn't like girls like you. Dean liked girls that were platinum blondes, with a huge chest and perfectly flat stomach. Those kinds of girls that look like they walked right off the pages of his favorite porn magazine. 

You were none of those things.

Your stomach wasn't flat, you had a little extra weight on your hips, you had nice breast, but you were convinced that was just because you were heavy. You weren't obese, but you weren't a size zero either. 

You weren't a platinum blonde. They wouldn't have taken your picture and put you in any porn magazine. You had nothing that would hold the interest of the God that was Dean Winchester. 

He saw you as a best friend, or maybe a little sister, not someone he would fall in love with. 

You were laid back and shy, you didn't have the guts to even ask a guy out, much less let Dean know how you felt about him. Not that you'd take a chance anyway, and mess up the only kind of relationship you will ever have with the eldest Winchester, so you settled to drawing him. 

You liked drawing anyway. It was an escape from all the crazy, creepy, evil that surrounded the life of a hunter daily. 

"Morning Sweetheart," Dean said, dragging his feet as he entered the library, and you quickly hid your drawing so that he couldn't see it. 

"Morning Dean, you're up early," you tell him as he took his usual seat across from him.

"Yeah, one of those nights I guess, I just couldn't get comfortable." 

You found that hard to believe, he had that whole bed to himself with a memory foam mattress on it. What in the world could stop him from getting comfortable?

"Well, what do you have planned for today?" you ask him, getting up to go and start breakfast for the two of you. Dean stood and followed you into the bunker kitchen. Sitting on the island in the middle of the room as you took out a pack of bacon and started to lay it out in the pan.

"I actually wanted to see if you wanted to just hang out and watch movies or something, you know have a lazy day," Dean said with a shrug. "Sam left today to go to Ohio and help Elieen with a witch hunt, and that just leaves me and you with the whole bunker to ourselves.

You stood stock still for a moment before you could answer. Dean had never wanted to just hang out with you before because you had the whole bunker to yourselves. I mean the two of you would occasionally watch a movie with Sam, and he sometimes would sit and talk to you in the bunker, but Dean was usually a pretty private person. He liked to hang out in the garage, and work on baby, and not really socialize much. Even though he called you his best friend in the kitchen a few months ago, he was always pretty distant, but Dean was distant from everyone, so you didn't worry about it.

"Sounds great Dean," you finally got out as he grabbed another pan, and started mixing up pancake batter next to you. 

"Great! I'm thinking we will start with a classic, Bram Stoker's Dracula maybe? See where it goes from there,'' Dean said, sounding excited. You couldn't help how your chest swelled thinking about Dean actually wanting to hang out with you.

An hour later Dean and yourself had eaten breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen. Dean was getting the movie going for the two of you, and you were sitting on the couch, making yourself comfortable. 

"Okay Sweetheart," Dean said, flopping down on the couch and throwing his arm around you, pulling you very close to his side. Your heart was pounding in your chest at the close proximity, but you just went with it. Dean was never like this, but you weren't going to question it, you were just going to enjoy it because you knew it might not ever happen again.

Many movies later, and several pizzas, Dean and yourself were watching the credits roll on Pet Sematary, and Dean was stretching next to you. He'd kept very close proximity to you all day, even letting you cuddle with him while you two watched TV together. It had honestly been the best day you had ever had, and you weren't excited that it was getting late. 

"Hey Y/N, can I ask you something?" Dean said, looking at you cautiously. Your heart was pounding so hard in your chest you were sure he could hear it.

"Sure, Dean." 

Reaching over the side of the couch Dean pulls out a little black binder. One you recognize immediately. It was the binder that you kept all your drawings of Dean in. Your heart literally stopped mid beat as he turned to look at you, opening it up, and revealing your work. 

You couldn't speak, you couldn't breathe...

"Sweetheart, These are really..." 

Not letting him finish his sentence you snatched the binder out of his hands and literally ran towards your room, slamming the door behind you and locking it as tears made their way down your check. Throwing the binder in your underwear drawer you fall into bed and pray for death because that was the only thing that was going to take away that kind of embarrassment. 

All you could do was cry, you couldn't even think straight. He'd sat there and watched TV with you  ALL DAY! Let you cuddle with him, laughed with you, ordered food for you. You had a great day with Dean, and the whole time he was sitting over there with your binder, waiting to ask you about it. Guess he was just trying to soften the blow before he approached you about it.

You had never been more humiliated in your life. 

You were so upset that you didn't hear Dean pick the lock on your bedroom door, and when you felt the bed dip next to you, you nearly jumped out of it.

"Y/N, please don't run from me." 

You froze where you sat, looking anywhere but Dean, you couldn't stand to see what you thought you said there. Judgment, mocking, just like all those boys in high school that found out you had a crush on them and started calling you fat, and other mean names. Dean not only looked like a jock, but he was probably no different. 

Putting his finger lightly under your chin Dean guided your face to him.

"Look at me, Princess," he said, his voice was softer than you thought it would be, not mocking at all. 

Making yourself look at him, meeting his piercing green eyes as he wiped the tears that had fallen off of your face with the pad of his thumb. 

There wasn't any judgment there, but there was so much emotion that you didn't understand. 

"Y/N, I'm so, so sorry. I shouldn't have sprung that on you that way. I found your binder laying on the bed when I came in here to grab the spare blanket, and I got curious and opened it. I shouldn't have invaded your privacy, and I wasn't going to make fun of you, or mock you, hell, I'm not even mad. I just want to know why me?"

That made your mind freeze up for a moment. "Why me?" He was really wanting to know why you wanted to draw him? Does he look in the mirror when he gets dressed in the morning?

You blinked at him, dumbfounded by the question.

"What do you mean why you?" you asked him, and he lowered his head for the first time like he was a little embarrassed himself. 

"Because I'm nothing, Sweetheart, I'm not even that great of a person. Why the hell would you want to draw someone like me?" 

You wanted more than anything to slap him at that moment. "Dean, do you look in the mirror when you get dressed in the morning? Your fucking hot!" 

Slapping your hand over your mouth you mentally slapped yourself for your little outburst. Looking at Dean like you would die right there if you could get away with it.

Dean snorted out a laugh that surprised you, raising his eyebrows a little. "So you think I'm hot?" 

"Oh God Dean,'' you said, covering your face with your blankets before he pulled them down and laid down next to you. 

"Sweetheart, don't get embarrassed. You're normally so laid back. Why are you so shy around me?" 

Taking a deep breath you decided it was now or never. He wasn't going to let it go. You wondered if he already knew and was just being manipulative, but you had never known Dean to be manipulative. 

"Because I like you, Dean, I mean I really, really like you! More than just a friend or a brother. I have feelings for you Dean. I don't expect you to feel the same way about someone like me, and I completely understand if I totally creeped you out by drawing you all time, I'll stop if you want me to, I completely understand if you don't want anything to do with me anymore. I can call my brother to come and get me, move in with him, and his family.."

Before you could stand up all the way, and keep rambling Dean grabbed you, turned you around, and crashed his lips into yours in a bruising kiss to shut you up. It didn't last near as long as you wanted it to, but it didn't take long to make you melt into him. His taste filling you, his warm lips gliding over yours and your lips worked together with him like it was something that they'd always done.

When he pulled away you were both panting, and he leaned his forehead against yours, brushing your hair away from your face. 

"Sweetheart, stop. I don't want you to go anywhere. I have feelings for you too, I always have, just didn't figure you wanted someone as fucked up as I am."

Snaking his arms around your waist he started backing you up to the bed and laid you down softly on the mattress before crawling up your body and hovering over you as you backed up against the pillows. 

"I don't mind that you draw me. You don't creep me out, and I don't want you to change a damn thing about yourself. The only thing I want to know before I take this any further, because trust me I want to, is do you want this with me for real? Because I've wanted it a long damn time, and once I go there with you, your mine. There's no going back, I've weighed too long for you to lose you, sweet girl."

You couldn't speak because part of you couldn't believe what you were hearing, so you just nodded your head. 

That was all the permission he needed before his lips found yours again, kissing you softly. His tongue gliding over yours. His hands trailing over sides. Lifting up the hem of your shirt so that his hands can graze over the skin there. A moan leaving your lips as the feeling of his hands on your skin. 

Dean sat up and ripped his shirt over his head, and threw it to the floor. You sat up and did the same. Hand's trailing over the newly exposed skin of his chest as he laid you down on the mattress slowly. His lips trailing from your jawline to your pulse point, leaving little love bites and open mouth kisses as he went before slipping his hand behind your back and loosening your bra. Pulling it off of you slowly and throwing it across the room.

"You so beautiful Princess," he whispered as his finger trailed over the mounds of your breast, admiring each inch of you like he was trying to commit it to memory. Lowering his head, taking each nipple in his mouth, giving each of them the same amount of attention as he worshiped your body. 

Sliding his hands into the waistband of your pants he slid your underwear and your sweats down in one pull. Before ridding himself of his own sweats and boxers. Leaving both of you bare in front of each other. 

He was glorious, all muscle power. You were not, and you were completely bare before him. You automatically reached for the blanket. Feeling self-conscious for the first time tonight with him when he grabbed your arms stops you. 

"No, no sweetheart don't hide from me. You're beautiful, and I want to see you." 

Covering his body with your he leans down over you, grazing the shell of your ear with his teeth, sending a shiver through your body, landing a jolt of arousal straight in your core. 

"I want to taste you, but I don't think I can wait any longer to be inside of you."

Dean settled himself between your legs and started to rut his leaking erection against your soaked folds, nudging your clit with every slow movement of his hips. A gasp fell from your lips as with one smooth pull of his body against yours he'd lined himself up with you soaking entrance, pushing himself inside slowly, stretching you in the best way as he bottomed out and both of you groan at the connection of your bodies.

Never breaking eye contact he started rutting himself against your body. Not really pulling out all the way or at all. Slowly, deep, he moved inside of you. His head is buried in your neck, as moans and shallow breaths falling form both of you as he hit places deep inside of you no one had ever reached. Building you both higher and higher until you were both tumbling over the edge together as his seed coated your walls and your body jerked underneath him, pulling and milking him as he spilled himself into you.

When you both finally came down from your he pulled himself out slowly, not bothering about cleaning yourselves up. He just pulled you close to his chest, playing with your hair while you just enjoyed being close to each other. One hand on the curve of your hips, running his fingers lightly of the skin there. Relishing in your body in a way that you were ashamed of. He saw you as beautiful, and he wasn't ashamed to show it. He loved your curves that you tried so hard to hide, and he made you feel beautiful. No one had ever done that before. 

After a long time, Dean chuckled to himself, making you look up at him in confusion. "What Dean?"

"Nothing. Just wait until I tell Sam you've been painting me like one of those french girls." 

You reach up and slap him on his chest with a laugh. "I'll kick your ass, Winchester," you say, trying to sound threatening. 

He didn't respond to your threat, knowing well that you couldn't even slap him hard enough to hurt him. 

You just laid there looking at the ridiculous smile on his face. You loved how it made the lines around his eyes stick out. The way he always perches his tongue between his teeth, but only the tip. The way his eyes seem to sparkle and just for a moment, he looks ten years younger than he really is. 

Those are the things you love about him the most. The little details most people miss. 

"What?" he asked when he looked down and saw you staring at him, still playing with your hair.

"Just enjoying all the little details."

Full Name: Aesop-29

Gender and Sexuality: Male and Homosexual.

Pronouns: He/Him.

Ethnicity/Species: Exo, from the little crop of Destiny fancharacters that I have.

Birthplace and Birthdate: Unknown factor. But Aesop was found by his Ghost in the middle of nowhere, in a southwestern state that I have not chosen yet. Arizona, Texas, Colorado and Southern California are all candidates. Aesop has just a little bit of a Texan accent. 

Guilty Pleasures: Aesop is trying to learn how to play guitar and is really bad at it, making him very shy and nervous about his attempts. Similarly, Aesop enjoys singing, but usually does it when no one else is around - because no one else has really heard him sing before, it is a well kept secret between him and his Ghost that he’s actually pretty good. I personally like to keep the list of music that he likes to the 50’s-60’s bracket to match the kind of retrofuturistic style that the Golden Age tech in Destiny has. We the viewer read it as being ‘old’, even if it’s much, MUCH older than we realize because the setting is far future. That’s really all that matters, that we recognize it as being antiquated. His favorite of the very small pool of albums he has access to are Marty Robbins’ “Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs” and Nancy Sinatra’s “Boots” and “Sugar”. Sojourn teases him about it and has thusly introduced him to the feeling of shame. He also likes drinking alcohol even if it doesn’t actually make him drunk. Sometimes he does it out of spite. Someone you don’t like? Pound his drink right in front of him and walk away.

Phobias: Aesop’s kinda agoraphobic - he feels trapped and panicked in enclosed areas with lots of people, can be overstimulated by large groups of people talking/making a lot of noise. This makes him mostly useless in large-scale conflicts. He has managed to curb some of this by being accompanied by Sojourn or Calico to areas or situations that are high risk (whether that means a combat scenario or just going to The City), but this can get squirrely because Calico doesn’t have a ghost anymore and if killed would die permanently, and Sojourn has a tendency to get worked up in a fight and leave him behind on accident. If everything goes well though, Aesop is perfectly functional fighting in the small group that is his fireteam - himself, Sojourn (exo warlock) and King (human titan). His ghost, Chanticleer, can also sometimes talk him down if he’s starting to spin up into a panic attack. It’s something that he wants to fix, but, existing within the confines of your anxiety is a cold comfort that he indulges in. In general, he’s a very anxious person with a lot of existential dread, but he puts on a clownish, brazen act and hopes people don’t notice.

What They Would Be Famous For: Honestly, probably something very mundane, like breaking a dopey Guinness-style record or something like that. The entire point of Aesop is that he is very average in his skills in a world of blisteringly powerful space wizards and the like. I find his challenges are more about what goals he sets for himself and if those goals conflict with the status quo. Does his worth need be defined by how good he is at killing things vs. is the pursuit of personal wellness and happiness selfish in the context of a world fighting for its survival. Can these things coexist. etc.  

What They Would Get Arrested For: Probably something relatively benign done for the sake of pulling a dangerous stunt in the name of fun or looking cool. If he was a regular ass human in a normal modern setting, probably taking a nice vintage car for a joyride.

OC You Ship Them With: Aesop will have a love interest in the comic canon, but I’m gonna keep that under my hat for awhile yet. It’s not Cayde though, Cayde is dad. If Amanda Holliday was a man, he’d be utterly and entirely in love, but, alas. He’s still infatuated with her platonically though, and thinks she has pretty much the coolest job in the world. A promise of visiting her is a good way to entice him into going to The City.

OC Most Likely To Murder Them: When death is not a factor, this becomes less of an issue, hah. Aesop and his bff Sojourn have killed each other a number of times in training, to an almost nonchalant degree. Aesop has also been killed much more in training, by his fireteam’s resident titan, King. Aesop will also find a rival in a local Fallen pike gang, the leader of which has the placeholder name of Easy Rider. I also have a Cabal villain I am throwing around and trying to decide if they’ll stick, but I need to do a lot more work and research on that. They’re my least favorite enemy type mechanically, but I think they could make perfectly acceptable antagonists in a narrative. 

Favorite Movie/Book Genre: Aesop does not read. He can, he just doesn’t. I think maybe, MAYBE, someone could get him to read comic books, but those aren’t very sturdy and I feel like the amount of intact physical copies at this point would be almost nothing. The pool of movies and media that he has available to him are very sparse, but he absolutely drowns himself in spaghetti westerns, and would probably also like trashy action movies if they were available to him. I also think he would like Grease, HAHA. It has cars and guys in leather jackets singing in it. He’d also probably like any kind of rustic, western themed musical. And anything with cars in it would have his immediate interest no matter how bad it is, but he’d zone out in any parts he doesn’t like. 

Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: To be honest I think most of the time, movies are a little too long for him and lose his interest partway through. He has a really short attention span and anything too long, complicated or artsy will lose him and he’ll start being fidgety and chatty and start making his boredom everyone else’s problem. Even if there’s a movie he likes, if there’s a part that’s boring to him, he zones out. He probably watches the same 2-3 movies over and over again, which is fine because his available library of media is probably really small. I like to think that they probably have movies in some kind of archive that they put up publicly in The City every once in awhile, like they have a projector that puts it on the side of a building and people just bring chairs and shit. Aesop has an aforementioned fear of crowds but he probably does some hunter parkour bullshit and perches somewhere at a healthy distance to watch from afar, as long as it’s something he thinks he would like. If he doesn’t he gets up and leaves.

Talents and/or Powers: Aesop seems to have an interest in vehicles, but due to a bet with his mentor, Calico, he has not actually been taught how to drive a Sparrow and so pines for them from afar. As said, he’s learning how to play an instrument, and if we want to be technical, is a Gunslinger speced Hunter with the Golden Gun super. He is very bad at being stealthy, as he is very impatient and is also a little bigger than the average exo. He’s just kinda tall and wide and tends to clunk around. If his Ghost Chanticleer wasn’t as clever as she was, Aesop would probably be perma-dead by now.

Why Someone Might Love Them: He’s kind of a dumbass and a space cadet but has the potential to be very sweet, and the people he cares about, he latches on to really hard. Similarly, when set to a task he cares about, he does not quit. Unfortunately, many of his goals are unresolved, but it does not mean that he will stop trying. If he were to, say, become romantically interested in someone, he would go to great lengths to connect with him, even if it meant doing things Aesop himself may not like. In specific circumstances, Aesop may find that he has a great capacity for nurturing and bringing out the best in other people, a talent Aesop himself undervalues. Though he’s not all that intelligent, Aesop is very reflective and existentially inquisitive, and thinks about a lot of big picture stuff that other people might push aside in an era of crisis. Though he may not understand science or the way the world works in a mechanical sense, he is awed by it, and is a great appreciator of natural beauty. He’d cry at a particularly beautiful sunrise, if he could cry. I’d say he could be described as having a romantic soul.

Why Someone Might Hate Them: To be honest, Aesop has trouble establishing empathy with people he doesn’t know very well, and so is less invested in Earth’s plight than he probably should be (it would not be hard for Dead Orbit to sway him to their views). This makes some people think that he doesn’t take his charge seriously, and they also usually assume that he’s a slacker because he’s plateaued in his abilities so early. Really, Aesop is acutely socially anxious, can have panic attacks in large crowds, and generally prefers to stay away from The City unless he needs to go there, and so has a big emotional disconnect from it. Calico and Chanticleer have tried to get him more accustomed to groups, but has been thusfar mostly unsuccessful. His insecurity and anxiety also cause him to pull odd, dangerous stunts to prove his worth, making him unreliable and impulsive. He can bungle social interactions rather spectacularly, and is easily goaded into doing really stupid shit. Really, he is a person who may just be “too much” for some.

How They Change: Oooooghhh….I can’t talk about this. I forgot how frustrating it is to not be able to talk about things because you’re going to make a comic out of it. Suffice it to say he’s gonna change a lot.

Why You Love Them: I think Aesop encapsulates a lot of anxieties I have post-college. Aesop is a person in transition who is unsure of his future, knowing only that he can’t quit now, because quitting means failure and failure means death. Because he is in transition, he is anxious about forming relationships with people, worried that either he will be left behind by them, or that they won’t like him when he’s “finished” becoming a person. I think he has a complex relationship with his personhood and sense of self. I dunno, I think that’s an interesting anxiety for a protagonist to have. I am also interested to see what Aesop will end up contributing to his society/organization and his interpersonal relationships, and if he’ll be happy with it. I’ve put a lot of work into him, the ‘original Aesop’ I had in mind might as well be a completely different character now. Aesop was originally a little cameo that I did in our TTRPG game, Godslaughter, because my boyfriend had put a dunmer cameo character into our game and I wanted to return the favor. Then he made a sheet for him. Then I decided to keep him around, then I decided to play Destiny 2, then I decided I loved it, lol. There is still a version of Aesop in the TTRPG but he is so incredibly different, they may as well be different characters. We refer to him as “Bad Aesop” but should probably call him something more dignified (we won’t).

Top 10 Most Wanted Newcomers and Echo Fighters

NiI’d like to start this post by saying this is all my own personal opinion. I respect all feedback, be it positive or negative, so feel free to message me anytime! Fair warning, there’s a lot of characters I’m not familiar with, so please go easy on me!  I’ll present my #10 echo fighter and then my #10 newcomer until we reach number one, each with a paragraph describing why I want them. Let’s start with...

ECHO #10 - KEN (Street Fighter) (Echo of RYU)

I haven’t played a lot of Street Fighter, but I do know that Ken is a fan favorite of the series. I can’t see any third party characters getting a unique rep (RIP Chun-Li) so the best thing would be a Ryu echo fighter. The only person who I feel deserves that role is Ken. As stated before, I’m a novice to Street Fighter so I can’t name any differences between the two, but Smash Bros. would be a fantastic way for me to see these differences.

NEWCOMER #10 - RAYMAN (Rayman)

Remember when Artsy Omni made that fake leak of Rayman in SM4SH? I was one of the many people who thought it looked too real to be fake. Nearly everything about the leak looked real, and the fact that there was a Rayman trophy in the game only lead me to believe it further. With his detached limbs, I could see Rayman having one of the longer grabs in the game, with his hands and legs flying far from his body to deal some damage. 

ECHO #9 - FUNKY KONG (Donkey Kong Country) (Echo of DONKEY KONG)

I’ve been playing a lot of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and with the Switch port adding a fifth playable character in the form of Funky Kong (only in Funky Mode), he’s gaining a new following that he hasn’t had before. Rather than rolling in his dash attack like Donkey Kong, Funky could ride his Surfboard. If not a dash attack, it could work similar to Wario’s bike where it will disappear for a bit if it’s destroyed. His recovery could involve him surfing upwards, too!

NEWCOMER #9 - REX AND PYRA (Xenoblade Chronicles)

I haven’t gotten around to beating Xenoblade Chronciles 2 yet, but I really like the dynamic between these two. I don’t have much to say about them, they’d probably function semi-similar to Shulk but not close enough to be an echo fighter. Rather than giving Rex alternate costumes, each costume could be a different sword rather than Pyra.

ECHO #8 - IMPA (The Legend of Zelda) (Echo of SHEIK)

Using her Hyrule Warriors appearance, obviously. She’d play as a fast moving just low damaging attacker like Sheik, but I could see her dash attack and other moves using her sword like she does in Hyrule Warriors. 

NEWCOMER #8 - SPRINGMAN (ARMS)

So I’ve heard that Sakurai is primarily drawing from the Smash Ballot back in SM4SH, which means we may not being seeing any ARMS characters in the base roster. The game may have been underwhelming, but Nintendo rarely releases new major IPs, so bringing in a character from ARMS may help with sales. As Springman is the primary posterboy, he would fit best into the roster. Similar to Rayman, he’d have long range due to his spring-like arms.

ECHO #7 - NINTEN (Earthbound) (Echo of NESS)

I know absolutely nothing about this character because the only Earthbound/Mother game I’ve played was Mother 3, but I’d love to see another representative of the series. Seeing as Ness and Lucas were the protagonists of Earthbound 2 and Mother 3, I see no reason to not include the protagonist of the first game in the series.

NEWCOMER #7 - DECIDUEYE (Pokémon)

I’m going to be quaint. I don’t want Incineroar to be our Gen. 7 rep. It may be easier to implement than an owl with a bow and arrow, but we already have Greninja to represent a water starter and we have/had Charizard to represent a fire starter, so I would much rather have our first grass starter in the form of the unique Decidueye. He’d have a fantastic recovery due to his being an owl, but his kit would be primarily ranged based. You could take a lot of his movement from his Pokkén Tournament incarnation.

ECHO #6 - ISABELLE (Animal Crossing) (Echo of VILLAGER)

Isabelle’s assist trophy has not (at the time of making this) been reconfirmed, so I believe there’s a strong possibility that she’ll make it as our second Animal Crossing representative. She’s quickly become one of the most popular characters of the series and with her very expressive faces, I’m sure Sakurai can make her into one of the cutest characters we have.

NEWCOMER #6 - FAWFUL (Super Mario)

Nintendo seems to have forgotten about the Mario & Luigi franchise, which saddens me because they were my favorite games. Fawful is an important character in Superstar Saga, Partners in Time, and Bowser’s Inside Story, even being the main antagonist in the third. He could be a very unique fighter, using his head-jetpack-thing for his recovery and his final smash could be the Dark Star Core.

ECHO #5 - VIRIDI or MEDUSA (Kid Icarus) (Echo of PALUTENA)

Viridi is a fan favorite who could echo Palutena, but rather than using general light magic, Viridi could focus on more nature-based magic. Another echo of Palutena could be Medusa. I’m not quite sure what a moveset for her would be like, but more villains is a must.

NEWCOMER #5 - SKULL KID (The Legend of Zelda)

Apparently there’s a lot of people who believe Skull Kid is confirmed already? I don’t know if I’d go that far, though I admit the proof is very believable. I don’t know what a potential moveset for Skull Kid could be, and his final smash probably wouldn’t be the Moon, as it’s an assist trophy now. But who knows, maybe it’s possible?

ECHO #4 - SHADOW (Sonic the Hedgehog) (Echo of SONIC)

Shadow just makes sense to me. We know third party characters are open to echo fighters, and Chrom showed us that “echo” doesn’t mean “exact copy”. Shadow could echo Sonic but keep his unique dark and edgy attitude. He could be a stronger but slower Sonic who skates on his shoes and uses the power of the Chaos Emeralds for his attacks, with Chaos Control and other emerald-based powers. No guns though.

NEWCOMER #4 - PAPER MARIO (Super Mario)

With five games to take from, the Paper Mario RPG series is a classic and loveable series to Nintendo fans. While the recent games have failed to live up to what The Thousand-Year Door built, the series still has a strong following. He could use jump based moves and his hammer would be an integral part of his moveset. Various partners from the series, like Goombella, could also be part of his moveset.

ECHO #3 - OCTOLING (Splatoon) (Echo of INKLING)

Now that we know that not all Octoling are evil, this may be their chance to make it into the lime light as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. The major problem I see with the Octoling is how to differentiate between their ink and the Inkling’s ink. Plus I just really want an Octoling amiibo.

NEWCOMER #3 - MONSTER HUNTER (Monster Hunter)

I have never played any Monster Hunter games and to be honest they just aren’t my cup of tea, but since Rathalos is in the game as both a boss and an assist trophy, I’d be kind of upset if we didn’t get a hunter as a character.

ECHO #2 - DIXIE KONG (Donkey Kong Country) (Echo of DIDDY KONG)

Another fan favorite character that I’m honestly surprised hasn’t made it yet. Her hair could whip forward like Shantae’s does in the Shantae games, and it could also be used as her recovery, working the same as Donkey Kong’s, low height but long distance. 

NEWCOMER #2 - GENO (Super Mario)

I haven’t played Super Mario RPG personally, but I’ve seen my friend play a bit of it and I know how popular Geno is. With his appearance as a Mii Costume in SM4SH, I don’t think it’s unreasonable that Sakurai put him in. It seems like all those who got Mii Costumes have made it in as playable characters (except Ashley, RIP).

ECHO #1 - DARK BOWSER or MIDBUS (Super Mario) (Echo of BOWSER)

Psst, hey. Fun fact. This is actually my most wanted character in the entire list. Even more than my #1 Newcomer. Dark Bowser is the final boss of Bowser’s storyline in Bowser’s Inside Story, happening the same time as the Mario Bros. fight the Dark Star Core. He’s bigger than Bowser and a lot tougher. He breaths blue/purple fire among other powers, and I plan on making a whole separate post dedicated to why I want this character in Smash Bros. For now, I’ll just leave you all with Dark Bowser’s battle music.

NEWCOMER #1 - BANDANA DEE (Kirby)

Bandana (Waddle) Dee has become a stable character of the Kirby franchise, usually being a boss character or a playable character, his popularity rivals that of King Dedede and Meta Knight. He could throw his spear as a neutral attack, and spin it around for his recovery like he does in Star Allies. If you want to see what this looks like in action, I suggest checking out some gameplay of him in Super Smash Flash 2 (Please ignore Goku, he’s never getting in).
